Cybersecurity and Mining Innovation Take the Spotlight at the 2025 Consensus Awards

Sydney, June 2025 — Australian innovation tackling two very different challenges — digital identity security and the future of mining — has been recognised in Edition I of the 2025 Consensus Awards.
Two technologies were named Winners of Consensus Innovation Awards: Secure My Identity from SecureMy.Digital and the Closed Loop Mining System from Optima Mining Systems & JTG Consulting.
The Awards were presented by Claire Chandler, Senator for Tasmania, alongside Consensus Awards Founder Julian Day, at an event hosted by Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer in Sydney.
A further entrant, Solar(chi)tecture, received a Notable Mention in the Consensus GreenTech Awards.
Rethinking one of cybersecurity's oldest problems
SecureMy.Digital received a Consensus Innovation Award for Secure My Identity, a cybersecurity service designed to address one of the most persistent vulnerabilities in digital security: passwords.
Rather than relying on a traditional password vault, the technology combines advanced cryptographic algorithms with machine learning to provide a low-friction, phishing-resistant approach to password security.
The judges recognised the technology's approach to a problem that continues to affect individuals and organisations globally as cyber threats become increasingly sophisticated.
A new approach to mining
The second Consensus Innovation Award was presented to Optima Mining Systems & JTG Consulting for its Closed Loop Mining System.
The recognition demonstrates the breadth of Australian innovation being assessed through Consensus, extending beyond conventional software into technologies capable of changing how established industries operate.
Mining remains one of Australia's most significant industries, creating substantial opportunities for technologies capable of improving the way resources are managed, recovered and processed.
GreenTech innovation also recognised
Solar(chi)tecture received a Notable Mention in the Consensus GreenTech Awards, recognising the potential demonstrated by the entrant during the independent judging process.
The distinction sits separately from Winner and Highly Commended recognition and acknowledges an entrant considered worthy of particular attention by the judging panel.
Independent judging remains at the heart of Consensus
The Consensus Awards are independently judged against three fundamental criteria: Innovation, Performance and Potential.
Rather than selecting a predetermined number of winners, Consensus Awards are conferred when judging panels determine that an entrant has demonstrated the standard required for recognition.
Dentons Lawyers hosted the judging days for Edition I, while Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer hosted the Awards presentation.
Now in its 26th year, Consensus continues to identify Australian and New Zealand technologies with the potential to create significant commercial and societal impact.
