From Autism Research to Rapid Wound Healing: Australian MedTech Honoured at the 2025 Consensus Awards

Sydney, December 2025 — Two Australian medical technologies with the potential to transform lives have been recognised as Winners in Edition II of the 2025 Consensus Awards.
MO8 from Meizon Innovations and the Rapid Repair Wound Dressing from Rapair Medical Devices were each conferred a Consensus MedTech Award.
The Awards were presented by The Hon. Jacqui Munro, NSW Shadow Minister for Science & Technology, alongside Consensus Awards Founder Julian Day, at an event hosted by Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer in Sydney.
Two further Australian technologies — StackUp from StackUp Operations and the KRGS Doors Motorised Folding Closure from KRGS Doors — received Highly Commended recognition in the Consensus Innovation Awards.
Two decades of research behind a potential new autism therapy
Meizon Innovations received a Consensus MedTech Award for MO8, a novel oral therapy being developed for autism spectrum disorder.
The technology is the result of two decades of research led by Dr Wah Chin Boon at the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health.
The research identified a potential pathway for addressing activity within the brain's amygdala and led to the development of MO8, which is being investigated for its potential to improve core behavioural challenges associated with autism.
The Consensus judging panel recognised both the depth of scientific research behind the technology and its potential global impact should future clinical trials demonstrate its viability.
Rethinking how wounds heal
Rapair Medical Devices received the second Consensus MedTech Award for its Rapid Repair Wound Dressing.
Rather than simply covering or closing a wound, the Australian-developed technology is designed to influence the physical environment in which healing occurs.
The dressing has been developed to reduce healing time and scar tissue and has potential applications across both human and veterinary medicine.
Its approach is so different from existing registered devices that a new Global Medical Device Nomenclature Code was created for the dressing.
The technology is already listed on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods as a Class I Medical Device and has been trialled in clinics across Australia and New Zealand.
Emerging innovators earn Highly Commended recognition
Two technologies also received Highly Commended Consensus Innovation Awards.
StackUp Operations was recognised for StackUp, a technology platform designed to provide organisations with objective visibility into their technology health and maturity.
The judges highlighted its combination of structured assessments, benchmarking and AI-driven insights, together with its potential to develop into a global benchmark for technology health.
KRGS Doors received Highly Commended recognition for its Motorised Folding Closure, an Australian-engineered security solution designed to provide faster and more reliable closure of retail and commercial spaces.
The judges recognised the company's engineering, industry knowledge and the potential for wider adoption of the technology across the Australian market.
Australian innovation with global potential
The four technologies recognised in Edition II demonstrate the extraordinary range of innovation emerging from Australian businesses and research.
From a potential new therapy arising from decades of neuroscience research and a completely different approach to wound healing, to AI-driven technology governance and engineered physical security, each addresses a distinctly different problem.
What connects them is the framework at the heart of the Consensus Awards: Innovation, Performance and Potential.
For more than 25 years, independent Consensus judging panels have used those principles to identify technologies capable of making a meaningful commercial or societal impact.
