When PAN Software received a Consensus Software Award for RiskWare® in 2011, organisations were beginning to rethink the way they approached risk.
Risk management was becoming increasingly complex. Businesses needed to manage not only traditional corporate and financial risks, but workplace health and safety, incidents, compliance, business continuity and an expanding range of governance obligations.
PAN Software saw an opportunity to bring those moving parts together.
Founded in Melbourne in 2003 by software developer George Pantazis, the company began with a program designed to streamline incident reporting. That initial idea evolved into RiskWare®, an integrated platform designed to give organisations a more complete view of risk across their operations.

By the time RiskWare entered the Consensus Software Awards in 2011, the platform incorporated ten integrated modules and aligned with the international ISO 31000 risk management standard.
The Consensus judges recognised both the innovation behind the technology and its potential to provide organisations with a more holistic approach to managing risk.
What followed has been more than a decade of continued growth and innovation.
Today, RiskWare has evolved into a comprehensive governance, risk, compliance and workplace health and safety platform trusted by more than two million users worldwide.
Its customers have included organisations such as Monash University, Tennis Australia, Forestry Corporation of NSW, Bank First and James Cook University, while other major organisations including the AFL, Australian Electoral Commission and HOSTPLUS have selected RiskWare solutions to support aspects of their risk, safety and compliance operations.
The innovation has continued too.
In 2019, RiskWare was recognised across three categories in the Australian Business Awards, including Software Innovation, Product Excellence and Mobile Innovation.
In 2023, the next generation RiskWare R3 platform received Australian Business Awards for both Software Innovation and Product Innovation, reflecting PAN Software's continued investment in the platform more than a decade after its Consensus recognition.
More recently, PAN Software has achieved ISO 27001 information security and ISO 9001 quality management certification, while founder George Pantazis received the Risk Management Institute of Australasia's inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award in 2026.
More than 20 years after PAN Software was founded — and 15 years after its Consensus Award — the company remains Australian-owned, active and continuing to develop technology for an increasingly complex risk environment.
For Consensus, RiskWare represents the kind of long-term innovation the Awards were created to identify.
The story isn't one of a technology company building a product, winning an award and standing still.
It's a story of an Australian software business continuing to evolve its technology, expand its reach and solve increasingly important problems for organisations around the world.
Long before governance, risk and compliance became the boardroom priority it is today, PAN Software was already building technology designed to bring it together.
And Consensus recognised its potential.
