Gravity Consulting | Consensus Software Award Winner 2017
When Gravity Consulting’s StrategyDotZero was named a 2017 Consensus Software Award Winner, the judges saw something bigger than another piece of enterprise software.
They saw global potential.
That assessment didn’t take long to look remarkably well judged.
StrategyDotZero was built to tackle one of the most persistent problems inside large organisations: the enormous gap between developing a strategy and actually executing it.
Businesses spend countless hours building strategic plans, setting objectives and agreeing on priorities. Then reality intervenes. Plans disappear into documents and presentations, teams retreat into operational silos, and leadership struggles to see whether the organisation is actually delivering what it set out to achieve.
Gravity Consulting believed software could change that.
Turning strategy into something organisations could actually use
StrategyDotZero created a digital environment where organisations could connect strategy, execution and performance.
Rather than treating strategy as a static document revisited periodically by senior management, the platform was designed to make it visible and measurable throughout an organisation.
By the time it reached the Consensus judging panel in 2017, the technology was already attracting serious attention.
The judges described aspects of the solution as “ground-breaking”, noting both its commercial relevance and potential to succeed internationally.
StrategyDotZero went on to win the 2017 Consensus Software Award.
But one of the most interesting chapters came next.
Enter Microsoft
Following its Consensus recognition, Gravity Consulting became part of Microsoft’s co-seller program, creating an opportunity for StrategyDotZero to be taken to market through Microsoft’s extensive enterprise ecosystem.
It was a significant development for a relatively young Australian software platform.
Microsoft also provided enterprise-level technical support to help Gravity architect StrategyDotZero for greater scale, strengthening the foundations needed to take an Australian-developed product into larger and more complex organisations.
For a company whose software was fundamentally about helping enterprises operate more effectively, having one of the world’s largest technology companies supporting its path to scale was a powerful validation.
It also echoed something the Consensus judges had identified early: this was technology with potential well beyond its original market.
From Australian consultancy to enterprise technology
Gravity’s evolution continued.
Today operating as Gravity iLabs, the company has expanded its work across strategy, transformation and innovation, while StrategyDotZero continues as its enterprise strategy execution platform.
The business says its technology and consulting work has now supported more than 100 organisations, including government departments and major organisations across Australia.
What began as an attempt to solve a deceptively simple problem — how do you stop strategy becoming a document nobody uses? — developed into technology capable of supporting complex organisations through strategy and transformation.
And somewhere between a Consensus judging room and Microsoft’s enterprise ecosystem, StrategyDotZero demonstrated precisely why recognising innovation early matters.
Consensus saw the potential before the next chapter began
The most interesting Success Stories aren’t simply businesses that won an award and continued operating.
They’re the ones where you can look back at what the judges saw at the time — and then look at what happened next.
In 2017, Consensus judges identified StrategyDotZero’s potential for international commercialisation.
The company subsequently joined Microsoft’s co-seller ecosystem, received Microsoft technical support to architect its technology for scale, expanded its enterprise footprint and continued developing the platform.
For Consensus, it’s another example from more than 25 years of recognising Australian technology before much of the wider market knew its name.
