Australian Technology Innovators Recognised at the 2017 Consensus Awards

Sydney, 19 December 2017 — Australian technology innovators have been recognised at the 2017 Consensus Awards, presented at PricewaterhouseCoopers' offices at International Towers, Barangaroo in Sydney.
The Awards were presented on Monday 18 December by The Hon. Craig Laundy MP, Federal Assistant Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science, with IT industry veteran Graeme Philipson also presenting awards during the evening.
Four Consensus Award programs were represented at the event: the Consensus Software Awards, Consensus Innovation Awards, Consensus IT Writers Awards and Consensus IT Professional Awards.
The technology awards recognised Australian-developed solutions demonstrating innovation, performance and potential, following independent evaluation by panels of industry judges.
Software innovation recognised
Two technologies received 2017 Consensus Software Awards.
ThreatDefence Pty Ltd was recognised for THREATDEFENCE, an Australian-developed IT security monitoring system designed to provide comprehensive network visibility and automated threat detection.
The judging panel was particularly impressed by the technology's rapid deployment, client retention and ability to monitor activity across an organisation through a single integrated system. Judges also identified significant international potential for the Australian-developed cybersecurity technology.
Gravity Consulting Pty Ltd received a Consensus Software Award for StrategyDotZero, a cloud-based solution developed to enable organisations to monitor the impact of enterprise strategy in real time.
Using artificial intelligence and machine learning to deliver executive dashboards, StrategyDotZero was recognised by judges as a groundbreaking approach to aligning business performance with strategic objectives.
The panel also highlighted Gravity Consulting's commercial strategy, support from Microsoft and existing implementations within government departments as indicators of the technology's potential.
Two further Software technologies received Highly Commended recognition: C-Sight from Pax Republic Pty Ltd and the Device Management System from Wearify Pty Ltd.
Innovation recognised across Australian industry
The 2017 Consensus Innovation Awards also recognised technologies addressing very different challenges.
CORTEX from Cortex Pty Ltd received a Consensus Innovation Award for its integrated public-access technology, bringing together services including Wi-Fi, public telephony, interactive information, wayfinding, device charging, emergency facilities and other services within public environments.
Recstra Pty Ltd was also recognised with a Consensus Innovation Award for its innovative technology.
Together, the recipients demonstrated the diversity of Australian innovation and the potential for locally developed technologies to address commercial and community challenges.
Independent judging at the heart of Consensus
The Consensus Awards are determined through independent assessment rather than competition between entrants.
Technologies are evaluated against three core criteria — Innovation, Performance and Potential — with judges able to confer as many or as few Awards as they believe meet the required standard.
The Business School at the University of New South Wales hosted judging for the 2017 Software and Innovation Awards, with independent panels drawn from technology, business and industry.
The Awards evening at PwC Barangaroo brought together winners, industry representatives and members of Australia's technology community to recognise another year of locally developed innovation.
The 2017 event continued Consensus' longstanding mission to provide independent validation and recognition for Australian technology with the potential to achieve meaningful commercial impact.
